ok so I get many questions what made you want to become a freelance makeup artist ?. Its always such a hard question to answer because there is so many reasons but when I try to sum it up I just say for the the love of seeing that look on my clients face after I put the makeup on them its just the best feeling in the world that you made some one feel good about themselves.
than I get another question how do I become a freelance artist ?
well its different for everyone if you follow my blogs and my youtube you will know that I myself is just starting out however I can give a few pointers on what I am doing to promote myself . I first made bussiness cards to promote myself and to hand out to people I went to vistaprint.com really good quality cards for 9 dollars !!! cant beat that.
I also started to bulid my kit with products i LOVE and i know that work rather than making a kit with cheap things just to "fill it up" why make a kit when you dont love the products . you must love every product in your kit ! first big thing . everyone has different taste of makeup styles some like natural some like dramatic you must have every type of makeup to accomdate your client.
Another major major thing is brushes !! brushes are your esstiental in your makeup kit and you must have soft brushes because you dont want hard brissles on a clients face I suggest sigma brushes they are professional brushes that are comparable to mac brushes for a fraction of the price ! cant beat that when you are first starting out elf brushes and sonia kashuk brushes which are sold at target are also good brushes for the price ! . I mean investing in mac brushes are good but if your just starting out you can find alternatives that work just as well ..
so whats in my kit ?
mac eye shadows , urban decay primer , smash box foundations , primers and halo . costal scents 88 eyeshadow palette & contouring palette , elf products , sigma brushes , mac brushes , elf and sonia kashuk brushes ..
its hard gettting your name out there but you must be persistant and put one foot foward ! try talking to other freelance artist see what they are doing but go around ask photographers for time for print if you dont know what that means basically its when you work for free to get pictures of your work so you can have them to shows clients .
